Echo Barrier celebrates five years of keeping the peace with acoustic barriers

Posted by Magnet on May 24, 2016 2:34:00 PM

The brainchild of acoustics expert Peter Wilson, the barrier was launched into the market to be a cost effective and accessible tool to help construction companies and Local Authorities reduce the impact of works noise on local communities.

Since it’s inception in September 2010, the company has added many more products to its acclaimed range and has grown to now have field offices in the United States, Australia, Abu Dhabi and Switzerland, all managed from the Head Office in Woodhall Business Park, Sudbury. Serving the construction industry, the business has doubled in size in each of its five years of existence thanks to massive growth overseas and prestigious contracts with the likes of Balfour Beatty and Transport for London in the UK.

Overseas, the barriers are currently in use on the World Trade Centre site and on the Subway in New York, as well as on the Sydney suburban rail network in Australia. In 2015, the team behind the award winning Echo H2 acoustic barrier have added the generator acoustic enclosure to its range which, in 2014, was expanded to include the H20 Acoustic tent, the zero rated barrier and the transparent barrier. On reaching the five-year milestone technical director Peter Wilson said: “The concept of the Echo Barrier is a simple one, but it provides an effective solution to the real and growing problem of noise. What used to be regarded as a necessary inconvenience is now a social, health and financial issue for the construction industry and for those specifying works which will cause excessive noise and disturbance to those living and working nearby. “Noise complaints are on the up all over the world and more and more people are starting to realise that exposure to excessive noise can have a devastating health impact as well as being annoying, inconvenient and costly when it causes project delays. “The five year mark has come around really quickly and the business is constantly growing and evolving.

We’re looking forward to helping to keep the peace for people around the world for many more years to come.” Recently, Echo Barrier played a pivotal part in the Earls Court London Underground station improvement project, allowing crucial work to take place without having to close the station. The team were praised by lead contractor Balfour Beatty for enabling the work to be completed on time and with zero noise complaints.
